TimeTrex is a free web-based open-source time management and payroll application developed by TimeTrex Software Inc. The company offers their commercial fee-based TimeTrex Business and TimeTrex Professional versions as well as the free open-source TimeTrex Standard edition.

Product history

TimeTrex started in 1999 as a similar custom application under a different name. Capitalizing on the success of that custom application, work began in 2003 to develop a new general-purpose payroll and time management application.[2] The TimeTrex open-source project began on SourceForge on August 14, 2006[3], with a Freecode version of the project beginning the next day.[4] By May 2010 the application was being downloaded from SourceForge over 12,000 times a month.

Features

The main features of the free TimeTrex Standard include[5]:

  • scheduling module
  • attendance module
  • payroll module
  • reporting
  • accrual setup
  • tax calculator
  • tax documents

The fee-based version offer more modules. You can compare functionality here.

Hardware/software requirements

Installation requirements for recent versions of TimeTrex are not known. Requirements from 2006 can be found here.
