University of Colombo (Sinhalese: කොළඹ විශ්වවිද්යාලය Kolomba Vishvavidyalaya; Tamil: கொழும்புப் பல்கலைக்கழகம்) (informally Colombo University or UoC) is a public research university located primarily in Colombo, Sri Lanka. It is the oldest institution of modern higher education in Sri Lanka. The university specializes in the fields of natural, social, and applied sciences as well as mathematics, computer sciences, and law. Colombo has seven faculties with 43 academic departments, and several institutes and centers.
