Electronic Laboratory Notebook is an open-source electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) that uses "automated gathering of metadata" to generate "itself out of notes and files, which are generated by one or several experiments." The developers state that it is suitable for "individuals and small groups of researchers in data-driven deductive research."[2] The solution may borrow, in part, from Jupyter Notebook.[2]

Product history

The initial commit for Electronic Laboratory Notebook happened on GitHub on May 7, 2021[1], likely as part of a student project done for Professor Bela Gipp of the University of Göttingen.[3] The software has seen a handful of commits since then, and a non-peer-reviewed paper describing the software was published on arXiv in April 2022.[2] As of October 2022, there's no official version number of the software; for practical purposes it's referred herein as v1.0.
