Arxspan, LLC develops and distributes laboratory informatics software solutions.

History

Arxspan was founded in January 2011.[1]

In November 2015, the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard partnered with Arxspan to use its ArxLab (now "Arxspan") software for biomedical research at the institute.[2]

In March 2019, Bruker Corporation announced that it had acquired Arxspan. It wasn't clear at the time how Arxspan would operate due to the acquisition, but the company is presumably operating as a subsidiary of Bruker.[3] With the change also came a few minor changes, including the presumed discontinuation of ArxLab FT (Filter and Transform)[4] and a name change of Arxspan's product line from "ArxLab" to "Arxspan."

In late June 2023, Bruker announced its branded platform SciY was being launched by its IDS division "in close collaboration with majority-owned software companies Mestrelab Research, Arxspan, Optimal Industrial Technologies, and ZONTAL, along with biopharma automation company Optimal Industrial Automation." Bruker stated that this platform "of vendor-agnostic software solutions allows the integration of our customers’ physical laboratory instruments and automation hardware with their scientific research, development, and manufacturing data into a digital environment to deliver maximum value with minimum effort and disruption."[5] The company essentially confirmed its long-term endpoint was an evolution of acquisitions and partnerships by adding that "SciY is a brand of Bruker Integrated Data Solution division that was born from collaborations and majority-acquisitions of renowned vendor-agnostic software partners."

Technology and products

Arxspan Assay, Inventory, and Registration

Arxspan Assay is a web-based biological data management tool and repository "for biological assay endpoint data, including in-vivo, LTS and HTS data."[6] Features include user-defined assay definitions, plate formats, and upload templates, and its "[c]ompatible with user-preferred data analysis tools such as XL Fit or Graph Pad Prism."[6]

Arxspan Inventory "is a web browser-based inventory software application that provides a tool set to define and manage biology and chemistry inventory items." Features include configurable container types, configurable storage location hierarchy, bar code scanning and printing, and search tools.[7]

Arxspan Registration "is a web-based chemical registration and bio registration solution that is built to serve as an authoritative repository for unique chemical and biological entities, and is optimized for the collaborative research models ubiquitous in today's commercial and academic research environments." Features include entity and batch numbering, mixture and formulation management, customizable fields, and support for salt stripping and uniqueness criteria.[8]

It's not clear if any of these offerings are part of Bruker's SciY platform.

Arxspan Notebook

Arxspan Notebook is a web-based ELN "that is searchable and sharable, efficiently managing chemistry and biology data" and offered under the software as a service (SaaS) delivery model.[9] It is presumably part of Bruker's SciY platform.[10]
