ASC X12

The Accredited Standards Committee X12 (also known as ASC X12) is a membership body that develops and maintains electronic data interchange (EDI) standards affecting electronic business transactions by entities involved in government, finance, insurance, logistics, health care, and more.[1] The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) chartered ASC in 1979, developing the "X12" (an ANSI sequential designator) standards for better interindustry electronic exchange.[2] Twice a year the standards are updated in the form of a sub-releases, each consisting of changes made since the last release.[2]
