Product history

The OpenKM project was started by developer Gaspar Palmer in late-2006, with the goal "to make business management tools available to small and medium businesses," tools previously "only accessible to large corporations due to the high cost of acquisition and implementation."[2] The first stable open-source release of OpenKM arrived on January 29, 2007 as version 1.0.[1] By November 2011, it was estimated OpenKM had 2,800 active installations worldwide, 186,000 downloads, and 5,000 community members.[2]
