Affymetrix, Inc. developed and marketed genomic and microarray technologies for translational and clinical research.
History
Affymetrix was formally founded in the state of California in 1992.[2] By 1997, the company was touting its GeneChip analysis system, offering "researchers fast, efficient access to large amounts of genetic information."[3] In 1998, the GeneChip laboratory information management system (LIMS) was introduced for managing and tracking "process data, raw data, and probe array results from multiple GeneChip systems or other ... genetic information source."[4] In 2001, version 3.0 of their LIMS—renamed to Affymetrix LIMS—was introduced to the market.[5]
