University of Kansas, often referred to as KU or Kansas, is a public research university located in Lawrence, Kansas, United States. KU branch campuses are located in the cities of Wichita, Overland Park, Salina, and Kansas City, Kansas, which houses the university's Medical Center and University Hospital. The university offers more than 370 degree programs across its 13 schools.[1] KU is classified as a research university with very high research activity by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.[2] The university enrolled more than 27,000 students, and it ranked 118 among national universities and 56 in "Top Public Schools" according to U.S. News & World Report's 2016 rankings.[3]
