Product history

The OpenKM project was started by developer Gaspar Palmer in late 2006, with the goal "to make business management tools available to small and medium businesses," tools previously "only accessible to large corporations due to the high cost of acquisition and implementation."[2] The first stable open-source release of OpenKM arrived on January 29, 2007 as version 1.0.[1] By November 2011, it was estimated OpenKM had 2,800 active installations worldwide, 186,000 downloads, and 5,000 community members.[2]
