Pentaho Reporting is a free open-source report design and publishing platform "that generates reports from data streamed through the Data Integration engine without the need for any intermediate staging tables."[2] The suite includes Report Designer and Reporting Engine SDK.

Product history

Pentaho Reporting has its origins in JFreeReport, an open-source reporting project started on SourceForge on April 18, 2002.[3] In January 2006, open-source software developer Pentaho Corporation acquired the rights to JFreeReport and hired on original author Thomas Morgner as Chief Architect of Reporting Solutions, renaming the product to "Pentaho Reporting."[4]
