A HIS vendor is an entity (business, company, corporation, etc.) which provides hospital information system (HIS) software or software packages. The HIS software may be very generalized to handle a great number of services managed by a hospital and its physicians and labs, or it may be very specialty-specific to handle the needs of a specialty hospital or clinic. The HIS may also include sub-functionality of other laboratory informatics software, including that of a laboratory information system (LIS) or radiology information system (RIS).
