GitLab is a free open-source Linux-based git repository management application and software development platform.
Product history
GitLab is developed by Ukrainian developers Dmitriy Zaporozhets and Valeriy Sizov. Its first public open-source release occurred on October 13, 2011 via GitHub.[1][2] Version 2.0 was released only a few months later, updating from Gitosis to Gitolite.[3] The team went on to dedicate itself to a release every month, going on to eventually release version 3.0 of the application on October 22, 2012.[4]
