Aquatic Informatics, Inc. develops and distributes laboratory informatics water data management and analysis software solutions. It also provides support to various Hach Company software solutions as part of Danaher Corporation's Water Quality Platform.[1]

History

The company was formally founded in 2003 by biologist Edward Quilty.[2][3]

In 2015, the company was ranked 38 among Deloitte’s fastest growing companies in Canada.[4] The company itself stated revenues growth by 30 percent and a doubling of the company’s size to 80 people.[3]

In November 2015, the company announced the transition of its AQUARIUS platform to hosted via the software as a service (SaaS) distribution model.[5] In April 2016, the company announced an expansion of its AQUARIUS suite with the addition of its SaaS-based sample management add-on.[6]

In July 2020, the Danaher Corporation announced it had acquired Aquatic Informatics and integrated it into it's Water Quality Platform with Hach Company and its offerings.[7][8]

In March 2021, Aquatic Informatics announced it had acquired Sedaru, Inc. and would be including its offerings in the Water Quality Platform.[9]

In August 2022, Aquatic Informatics and Hach announced a partnered data management effort in Rio, a "cloud-based compliance and operations data management solutions for water and wastewater utilities."[10]

On September 14, 2022, Danaher announced its intention to "separate its Environmental & Applied Solutions segment to create an independent, publicly traded company." The company added: "The new company will be comprised of Danaher's Water Quality and Product Identification businesses and will be referred to as 'EAS' until it is named at a later date. The transaction is intended to be tax-free to Danaher shareholders and expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2023."[11] It remains to be seen how this will affect Hach, Aquatic Informatics, and other Danaher subsidiaries.

Technology and products

AQUARIUS

The AQUARIUS software suite is a collection of data management applications designed to manage water resource information.[12] The suite includes many functions found in a laboratory information management system (LIMS), including sample management and tracking, QA/QC, data processing and analysis, workflow management, third-party portal, instrument interfacing, and reporting.[13]
