An electronic laboratory notebook (eln, or elab notebook) is a software package that eliminates the need for paper based lab notebooks by providing access and manipulation of data from a informatics system. The software package is used to create, store, retrieve, and share fully electronic records in ways that meet all legal, regulatory, technical and scientific requirements.[1]
