leihs is a free web-based open-source resource scheduling and management solution developed by the Zurich University of the Arts.
Product history
leihs was conceived as "a web-based system to manage the circulation of items within an organization or institution," specifically designed by the Zurich University of the Art to manage its camerags, lighting equipment, speakers, microphones, and more.[1] Version 1.0 of the solution was created sometime around the summer of 2007, with a German-only user interface.[1] Ramon Cahenzli, one of the lead developers, began a pan-university approach to development of leihs[2], with a 2.0 version in initial development by March 2008.[3] By the late summer of 2008, the university announced that it was working on a rewrite of version 1.x "with a complete restructuring of both the backend and the frontend user interfaces,"[1] though work continued on intermediate version like 1.2 in early 2008.[4] Version 2.0 was finally released on July 27, 2009 via SourceForge.[5] Subsequent 2.x releases occurred from 2009 to 2011[5], before moving to GitHub in October 2012.[6] A version 3.0 was released in November 2013, without release notes as it had "some teething issues," with a formally patched version of 3.0 (as 3.0.4) being released on December 4, 2013.[7] Releases have continued on GitHub since.[8]
