ADempiere or ADempiere ERP is a free open-source enterprise resource planning (ERP) application.

Product history

ADempiere began as Compiere, another open-source ERP solution. However, a disagreement arose between Compiere's developer community and its corporate sponsor concerning the greater emphasis on the open source nature of the project rather than the community nature of the project.[2] This disagreement ultimately led to the creation of ADempiere as a fork of Compiere.[3] The ADempiere project was officially started at SourceForge on September 9, 2006.[4]

On June 24, 2010, project admin Redhuan "red1" D. Oon stepped down from his role with the project.[5] Despite this, the ADempiere project was listed a few days later as one of the top two most active projects on SourceForge.[6]

On September 1, 2011, version 3.7.0 was released[7]. News concerning an updated release didn't arrive until 2013[8], however, and it took two more years before version 3.8.0 was released on March 3, 2015.[9] The update added new CRM and warehouse management functionality and integrated the human resources, manufacturing, and warehouse management modules, among other changes.

Features

The main features of ADempiere include[10]:
