Lab Online communicates with [[hospital information system]]s (HIS) and LIS systems using [[Health Level 7|HL7]] messages, following [[Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise|IHE]] guidelines. Without additional login, it can be securely called from systems maintaining [[electronic health record]]s (EHRs), preserving patient context. It includes full traceability of users' views and updates.
