SparkLix is an Israeli start-up transplanted to the U.S. A beta of the software (as SparkLab or SparkLab 360) was created as early as 2007[1][2]. SparkLab 360 was marketed as "one integrated system combining the best features of electronic lab notebooks (ELNs) and laboratory information management systems (LIMS)."[3]
At some point in early 2011, SparkLix changed its offerings, publicizing their free SparkLix ELN for commercial, academic, and personal use as well as a fee-based SparkLix Business Edition with more advanced features.[4] However, by roughly November 2012, the company removed information about its products and the company from its website while still allowing free access to SparkLix ELN.[5] As of February 2013, it's not clear what the features of the web-based software are or if the Business Edition is still being offered.
