LIMS at work GmbH develops and distributes laboratory informatics software. LIMS at work also provides partner service, support, and training for several other informatics systems, including OnQ Software Pty. Ltd.'s QLIMS.[1] The company also provides consulting, project management, development, and support services.[2]

History

History of Labmatica

The Labmatica LIMS has its origins in the FreeLIMS product originally offered by Laboptimizer Ltd.[3][4][5] FreeLIMS started out in 2006 as an open-source project by Thomas Maersch, but after seeing the potential of the product he created, Laboptimizer began developing and marketing a commercial version of the product called Labmatica LIMS. At some point between 2009 and 2011 Maersch turned over all rights to the commercial product to the company LIMS at work GmbH.[6] In 2015, news of a version 2.2 was announced[7], but it's not clear if it was ever finalized.

Technology and products

As a reseller

LIMS at work is a reseller of both OnQ Software Pty. Ltd.'s QLIMS laboratory information management system (LIMS)[1][8] and MEDEORA GmbH's BioArchive biobanking software.[9]

In-house

LIMS at work GmbH also develops its own software tools. LaWeb, for example, is a data retrieval and reporting tool that speeds up the complete reporting process.[10] Another example is Author-e Pharma, that "allows you to create, edit, and distribute your quality-related documents," including R&D reports, specifications, SOPs, and many other structured documents for your next audit.[11]

LIMS at work also develops and distributes Labmatica LIMS, a LIMS available under both a GNU General Public License (GPL) and a commercial license. The software is currently at version 2.1.[12]
