University of Glasgow (Scottish Gaelic: Oilthigh Ghlaschu; Latin: Universitas Glasguensis) is the fourth oldest university in the English-speaking world and one of Scotland's four ancient universities. Along with the University of Edinburgh, the University was part of the Scottish Enlightenment during the 18th century. The university has four colleges containing 33 schools and institutes serving nearly 23,000 students.[1] The university ranked 108 among all universities and 28 for its microbiology program according to U.S. News & World Report's 2016 rankings.[1]
