Cannevert Therapeutics Ltd. conducted Cannabis research and performed chemical Cannabis laboratory testing for the country's various cannabis programs.[2] However, the entity appears to have been a victim of downsizing by parent Veritas Pharma, Inc. in 2019 and no longer appears to operate.
History
The company was formally founded in June 2014.[3] In December 2015, Veritas Pharma, Inc., "an early stage pharmaceutical company developing innovative medicinal cannabis cultivars for specific disease conditions," announced it would begin investing in Cannevert.[4] By May 2017, Veritas owned 80 percent of Cannevert, with an option to wholly buy the company on the table.[5] In March 2018, Veritas announced the full acquisition of Cannevert, stating that the acquisition "will further enhance and extend the Company's product offering through development of the most effective cannabis strains, advancing the science behind medical cannabis, providing distribution channels for the Companies patent protected IP (cultivars & strains) products and sell or license to cancer clinics, in Canada, the US, and Europe."[6]
In May 2019, Veritas announced a restructuring and rebuilding of Cannevert, one that would include cutting and rehiring some researchers on a contract basis. Veritas described the move as one that would "reduce costs" while scaling to better tackle analytical testing of Cannabis.[1]
