Ohio University (OU) is a major public research university in Athens, Ohio, United States. Among its 11 colleges and 15 schools, Ohio University offers more than 250 areas of undergraduate study and grants master's degrees in many of its major academic divisions as well as doctoral degrees in selected departments.[1] OU is classified as a research university with high research activity by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.[2] The university enrolled more than 29,000 students, and it ranked 146 among national universities and 74 in "Top Public Schools" according to U.S. News & World Report's 2016 rankings.[3]
