'''ClinViro''' is an open-source [[laboratory information management system]] (LIMS) for HIV genotypic resistance testing. The software is associated with and intended to be used as part of the Stanford HIV Drug Resistance Database (HIVDB) genotypic resistance interpretation system.

==Product history==
The Stanford HIV Drug Resistance Database (HIVDB) was started in the late 1990s as an effort to link HIV sequencing data from other researchers for improved research.<ref name="ShaferOpening15">{{cite journal |url=http://www.internationalinnovation.com/build/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Robert_Shafer_Intl_Innovation_176_Research_Media_02.pdf |format=PDF |title=Opening Doors to HIV Discovery |journal=International Innovation |author=Shafer, R. |issue=176 |pages=44–46 |year=2015}}</ref> Out of that effort grew additional biomedical informatics tools to for piloting databases, analyzing sequences, and managing the research data around those efforts.
