Using ''ad hoc'' processes, while often convenient and necessary, sometimes circumvents intended safeguards. It is a good practice to consider any wider implications of performing a task ''ad hoc'' before stepping outside an established pattern ([[SOP]]) which may automatically provide important integrated steps or appropriate constraints.
