Soft Computer Consultants, Inc. (doing business as SCC Soft Computer) develops and distributes clinical laboratory informatics software solutions.
History
Soft Computer Consultants was founded in 1979.[1]
In the third quarter of 2019, SCC introduced its new suite of applications for laboratory researchers, including a cloud-based laboratory information management system (LIMS) called SoftLIMS.[2]
Technology and products
Solutions
SCC Soft Computer offers nearly 30 different software solutions, more than can be listed here. SCC organizes those solutions into different categories: laboratory, genetics, pathology, radiology, outreach, blood services, and research.[3] Key among its offerings is their laboratory information system (LIS) suite, which includes SoftLab, SoftMic, and SoftTotalQC, "designed to address your laboratory’s every need."[4] SoftLab focuses on the clinical side, while SoftMic focuses on microbiology. SoftTotalQC is a clinical quality control and inventory control solution that integrates with SoftLab, SoftMic, and several of SCC's other solutions.[4]
SCC also offers an anatomical pathology LIS, SoftPathDx, described as "the only AP-LIS on the market with available, integrated, dedicated modules for your genetics laboratories and technologies."[5]
One of SCC's major offerings in its genetics suite of applications is SoftMolecular, a LIS-like informatics system designed to allow "pathologists, geneticists, and forensic scientists to manage data and analysis stemming from current molecular testing methods in order to generate accurate interpretations and meaningful reports."[6] The suite also has solutions for genomics, cytogenetics, immunogenetics, and biochemistry, among others.
More recently, SCC began offering a research information systems suite, which includes its key offering SoftLIMS, a cloud-based LIMS "designed to provide software support for day-to-day operational automation in clinical, environmental, research, biobanking, and other environments."[2]
SCC states that all of its offerings are available in the cloud as software as a service (SaaS) solutions.[7]
