BTLIMS Technologies (doing business as BTSoft) is a software company that develops and distributes the laboratory information management system software BTLIMS, among other laboratory informatics solutions.
History
Initial development of BTLIMS began in 2002, with the first version of the software released in 2006, strongly focusing on environmental laboratories.[1]
In the spring of 2023, BTLIMS tweaked and rebranded some of their solutions under the "ALPACA" moniker.
Technology and products
BTLIMS and ALPACA Inventory, LIMS, Micro ELN, and SDMS
BTLIMS is a modular, desktop-based laboratory information management system (LIMS) "that can automate workflow, simplify processes, and strengthen productivity."[2]
APLACA Inventory (formerly ICM or Inventory Control Manager[3]) is inventory management software for laboratories "that streamlines your inventory processes and gives you complete control over ordering your lab’s consumables, chemical reagents, and instruments."[4]
ALPACA LIMS (formerly LDM or Lab Data Master[5]) is a LIMS that "is easy to use, helps your lab maintain compliance, protects data, and automates workflows."[6]
ALPACA Micro ELN is an electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) that empowers your organization "with improved research and development workflows, so you can make breakthroughs faster."[7]
ALPACA SDMS (formerly SDMS[8], though not to be confused with a scientific data management system) is described as a "sample data management system" that can inteface with a LIMS (or act alone), designed to provide "dynamic functionality to maintain traceability throughout the entire sample data management process."[9]
